1st Generation – Henri MOUGIN (1968) – 2 Years at the Helm

May 1968: The Beginning of a Family Story

It all began in May 1968, after a rather lively evening at a bar in the centre of Pénestin… On his way home, Henri Mougin and a friend stumbled upon a candle auction. A local farmer was selling his cabbage field. Intrigued, the two friends stopped to watch this traditional form of auction, where the highest bidder wins when the candle burns out.

Caught up in the excitement of the moment, Henri raised his hand to place a bid. But nobody followed… The candle went out, and suddenly he was the proud owner of a cabbage field for next to nothing! The following morning, realising what he had unexpectedly bought, Henri returned to the farmer and offered to sell the land back to him. But the farmer simply replied:

"You knew how to buy it, so you'll know how to look after it!"

Unsure what to do with the land, Henri decided to give it to his wife. She came up with a simple idea: why not let travellers pitch their tents and park their caravans there ? And so, in May 1968, thanks to a lively evening and a fortunate twist of fate, Camping Les Parcs was born!

2nd Generation – Jeanne MOUGIN (1970) – 30 Years at the Helm

Jeanne, a Woman of Strength and Heart

In 1970, two years after Camping Les Parcs was founded, Jeanne Mougin, the founders' daughter, joined the family adventure. Having been widowed a few years earlier, she arrived in a place where she knew almost no one apart from her family, little imagining how much it would change her life. Shortly after her arrival, her parents decided not to continue running the campsite. Jeanne suddenly found herself in charge, determined to give it a future.

A strong-willed, courageous and determined woman, she gradually transformed this simple camping field into a proper campsite. The creation of individual pitches, the introduction of electricity and hot water, and the construction of the shower and toilet facilities and the bar were all major improvements at the time, greatly enhancing the comfort of holidaymakers.

But beyond the facilities, Jeanne shaped the very soul of the campsite: a place for living, meeting people and sharing good times, where she quickly became a much-loved and unforgettable figure. In 2008, she moved permanently to the campsite, into a chalet built by her son Marc with the help of several residents. In August 2016, Jeanne passed away at the age of 87, surrounded by her loved ones, at Camping Les Parcs.

3rd Generation – Marc MOUGIN (2000) – 23 Years at the Helm

Marc, a Passion for Nature and Innovation

Originally from the Paris region, Marc Mougin spent much of his childhood at the family's country house in the Poudrantais area of Pénestin. It was in this little corner of Brittany that he developed his love of nature, plants and wide-open spaces from an early age. As a young man, Marc set off travelling for several years, discovering new places and broadening his horizons. But his attachment to Pénestin and his family roots eventually brought him back to Camping Les Parcs. In the 1990s, he joined his mother Jeanne to help manage the campsite.

In 2000, he officially took over the running of the business alongside his brother Alain, marking the arrival of the third generation. Passionate, creative and ambitious, Marc was not content simply to continue his mother's work: he dreamed bigger! He expanded the campsite three times, first alongside his brother Alain and then twice on his own. He also brought the campsite into a new era with the introduction of its first mobile homes and the creation of the swimming pool and paddling pool in the 1990s. These major developments gradually shaped Camping Les Parcs into the place we know today.

Despite all these changes, Marc remained deeply attached to nature and the campsite's family spirit. Over the years, he built genuine friendships with holidaymakers and long-term residents, some of whom became lifelong friends. In June 2020, his brother Alain passed away unexpectedly in hospital. Three years later, in June 2023, Marc also passed away peacefully in his sleep at Camping Les Parcs, aged 67.

4th Generation – Kévin MOUGIN (Since 2023)

A New Generation, Between Heritage and Modernity

My name is Kévin, and I now represent the fourth generation of our family-run campsite. I grew up surrounded by this world, where the campsite was an enormous playground filled with adventures, encounters and childhood memories. After spending several years working in landscaping and later in the camping and holiday industry, I took over the management of Camping Les Parcs in July 2023, following Marc's sudden passing. It was an unexpected responsibility, but one driven by a heartfelt determination: to keep this wonderful family story alive.

I am also joined on this journey by my cousin Rose Lin, Alain's daughter, who helps keep the campsite's spirit alive and share its story, mainly through her work in communications. Together, we carry on our family's legacy, each in our own way, united by the same deep attachment to our roots. Today, I continue the work of previous generations while bringing my own vision for the future.

Every day, I appreciate both the privilege and the responsibility of inheriting such a remarkable family history. I feel deeply grateful to my family for everything they have passed down to us, yet also saddened that I can no longer share this journey with those who are no longer here. Above all, my ambition is to keep this legacy alive, in tribute to everyone who has helped build Camping Les Parcs: my family, of course, but also the residents, returning guests and friends who, over the years, have all played their part in shaping its story.
